Reopen them please - and give Steve the logs he needs to fix
    them to your satisfaction.

The Samba server bugs when used with OS/2 clients got fixed
when Guenther Kukkuk worked closely with us to give us all
the reproducible cases we needed (Guenther is now a member
of the Samba Team btw - he does *great* work on this :-).

You need to do the same for the cifsfs vs. OS/2 bugs.
It's not like Steve doesn't care, he was the project
    lead for the OS/2 redirector :-) :-).

See comment #21 from Guenter, asking for information which
was never provided. We can't fix these bugs on our own, you
have to help, especially for a non-mainstream platform like
    OS/2.

I'm on irc://freenode/samba-os2 24/7. Steve never shows there. GŁnter is
there when his machine isn't shut down. Only one other person ever shows
there on a regular basis, and few others ever visit.

When GŁnter asks for help I give it. He knows what's going on, I don't. The
way I understand it, if I understand it, from talks with GŁnter, Steve is
just too busy to spend time on this very complicated stuff nearly always, and
GŁnter gets frustrated from endless waiting for Steve to find the necessary
round tuits that would permit or produce meaningful progress by syncing
Steve's working tree with the public tree that GŁnter depends on. Progress
has been made, but not yet enough for people to use CIFS to replace SMBFS. In
sum, this seems to me virtually entirely dependent on Steve for progress to
continue and a usable state to reach release.

As you note below, Steve is very busy. Doesn't mean he doesn't care :-).

Log the bugs (or re-open them). Submit the log files/capture traces,
listing output that we need. There are several active maintainers of
cifsfs, Steve is not the only one. I've done fixes myself when
    properly motivated.

You need to drive this process - drive the bugs. Don't just
let them go silent and ignored. If it matters to you, do it.
Hanging out on an irc channel isn't going to help. The squeaky
wheel gets the grease - bugzilla is where you need to squeak :-).

Since GŁnter knows what is going on and needs doing, I usually only touch
Bugzilla when GŁnter tasks me to do some particular thing there. GŁnter knows
timestamps are broken, and knows Steve knows timestamps are broken. If I
understand right no one else with competence and means to deal with OS/2
environment and patch testing exists, so neither see a point doing Bugzilla
about this very often. IMO of course.

And that is why it hasn't been fixed. No one else knew timestamps
were broken, no one else did anything about it.

Raise the profile of this issue - re-open the bug and drive
    the resolution please.

I saw comment 21. It requested WinXP info from someone else. I don't know
anything to do to help with that, but I do know nobody responded to my
    comment 22.

There are two thises above. To which, or both, do you refer? That I don't
know about helping with a WinXP problem, or that no one responded to my
    question, or both?

  10. [Samba] Samba 3.2.0 for Debian lenny (status)

    Following up in that thread...

I did a first attempt to build 3.2.0 for Debian yesterday and
    everything went fine.

The current status of TODOs about this is:

    - do the preparation work in our packaging SVN repository (import
upstream source and do it properly for once so that Steve Langasek
doesn't have to correct my mistakes)

    - check the WHATSNEW.txt file to see which of the Debian bugs are
fixed by that release if there are some

    - build and upload

The upload could first go to experimental unless we solve this:

    - resolve the licensing issue: Steve Langasek identified that the only
thing we need a confirmation from our Debian KDE team that their packages
being linked with a GPL v3 smbclient is not a problem (ie KDE 3.5.9
packages being licensed "GPL v2 or later")

If that's solved, I see no reason for not building Samba 3.2.0, upload
it to Debian unstable and therefore have it in Debian lenny (due out
    when it's ready of course).

And then we'll wait for bug reports and triage them at the Debian
    conference in early August....:-)

    Where is XML source tree?

    import/samba-docs-svnimport.git is current ?

I want to translate samba docs to Japanese,so original XML source need.
