I know this topic has been discussed number of times but i don't get it
fixed - I read through all the how-to etc.

I need your help - please...

Here my issue:

I can not write to my share ( I only want one single writeable share
for one user, easy isn't it? - I thought) either from windowsXP nor
with smbclient localy from the samba server. Read is no problem at all.
I'm running samba 3.2 on fedora Core 5

when I do smbclient it shows:

[root@localhost ~]# smbclient //localhost/data -Usamba
Domain=[LOCALHOST] OS=[Unix] Server=[Samba 3.0.22-1.fc5]
smb: \> dir
. D 0 Mon May 1 23:36:32
.. D 0 Mon May 1 23:36:02
test D 0 Mon May 1 23:36:32

58275 blocks of size 131072. 33732 blocks available
smb: \> cd test
smb: \test\> mkdir test
NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED making remote directory \test\test
smb: \test\>

what I did so far....

addgroup samba
adduser samba -g samba -m
passwd - samba
smbpasswd -a samba
mkdir /data
mkdir /data/test
chown samba.samba /data/test
chmod -R 777 /data

my smb.conf:

[root@localhost ~]# ls -la /data
total 24
drwxrwxrwx 3 root root 4096 May 1 23:36 .
drwxr-xr-x 24 root root 4096 May 1 23:36 ..
drwxrwxrwx 2 samba samba 4096 May 1 23:36 test

my smb.conf:

workgroup = FALLICA
server string = Fedora Core, Samba Server %v
unix password sync = Yes
log level = 2
max log size = 50
socket options = TCP_NODELAY SO_RCVBUF=8192 SO_SNDBUF=8192
dns proxy = No

path = /data
write list = samba
read only = No

the very intresting thing is when i can the path of /data to /tmp it
works I can write to it.... so i guess its something with user
rights...so here are the ls -la of these to dirs both under /

drwxrwxrwx 3 root root 4096 May 1 23:36 data
drwxrwxrwt 6 root root 4096 May 2 00:07 tmp

the only diffrence is this 't' and i don't what is it for...but I guess
thats not my issue with samba....

if you got any idea - please respond

many thanks in advance

PS - I know this config isn't very good with 777 rights no firewall
etc. :-)
