    Hi Jeremy,

In other words another cheap answer like: we can't afford to document how you can do it becasue we are too busy to develop new candidates.
Don't bother anymore I'll will choose probably to BUY a stable program that can do the job and have at least one support guy that is really support that.

    No more words to say....

If you require a guarenteed response time you need
to purchase a support contract with someone.

There are plenty of people to chose from, so
take your pick. A mailing list isn't the place
to get a known response time metric.

Do you download and test the release candidates ?
Do you report bugs and help us track them down ?
Do you set up test systems and learn how to
report segfaults and other issues ?

If not then I'm afraid I'm just going to ignore
your complaints. Free Software helps those who
learn how to help themselves. It's not "free"
    as in cost.

If you don't want to do any of this then purchase
a support contract from people who do.

    Jeremy.

You cannot really say that. I just finished rewriting over half of
    a book to update documentation:

    http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/samba3/index.html

So I went back and looked at your previous post:

    >[2007/05/02 15:19:47, 0] smbd/server.c:main(835)
    > standard input is not a socket, assuming -D option

    > Error = Address already in use

I guess I would expect someone trying to configure a server
to have enough networking knowledge to realize that
another daemon is already bound to port 139. Now you can
read the "smb ports" option in smb.conf(5) to change the
default ports (generally not a good idea) or you can run
    `lsof -n -i tcp` to see what is listening on port 139.

But to be fair, I went and dug up your original post here:

    http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba...il/131409.html

The smb.conf excerpt: valid users = @"domain users", clearly
shows that you did not read the release notes either.
Unqualified domain names in smb.conf have not been recommended
nor supported since Samba 3.08. In Samba 3.0.23 this became
    a hard requirement.

So please, before you start whining, at least read the documentation
provided. If you don't want to do that, at least please stop
    trolling this list. Thanks.

    cheers, jerry

Jerry and Jeremy already said much of what I would have said, but I'd
like to add that if you are inclined to BUY a stable program, then I can
tell you that you can BUY samba with support from many vendors.

I have no words to say when I see someone expecting Free Support and
whining if they don't get it.
