This is a discussion on installing grub - Redhat ; i tried to make windows xp the default load option rather than fedora 3, next time i booted grub died, so i put in the windows xp cd and formated the mbr and wrote a new boot sector. anyone know ...

    i tried to make windows xp the default load option rather than fedora 3,
    next time i booted grub died, so i put in the windows xp cd and formated the
    mbr and wrote a new boot sector. anyone know how i get back into fc3 and
    reinstall grub ??

    Boot off your fedora disk and choose 'rescue' (see f2 or f3) then mount your
    fedora hd installation as it says and run: grub-install /dev/hda (you may
    need to go to the sbin folder). Before you do that you may want to go to
    the /boot/grub/grub.conf file and see that default=1 or 2 or 3 whichever
    windows is. Thats all.
