  1. Deleting deleted swapfiles?

How do I delete a swapfile , which no longer physically exists on the
    system?

    [root@prod_app]/local# uname -a
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXX 2.4.9-e.65enterprise #1 SMP Thu Aug 4 20:08:59 EDT
    2005 i686 unknown

    [root@prod_app]/local# swapon -s
    Filename Type Size Used
    Priority
    /dev/cciss/c1d0p3 partition 2097112 1976932 -1
    /local/swapfile.1-140666018 (deleted) file 102392
    74132 -2
    /local/swapfile.1-144895527 (deleted) file 99992
    87856 -3
    /local/swapfile.1-145649734 (deleted) file 204792
    155544 -4

I can't seem to remove any of the deleted swapfiles, /dev/cciss/c1d0p3
refers to the actual swap partition. Anyone have any ideas as to how
to get the three other entries to go away (/local/swapfile.
    1-140666018, /local/swapfile.1-144895527 and /local/swapfile.

Do they exist as "swap" in /etc/fstab ? Did you use /sbin/swapoff
    swapfilename ?

There is no reference to the files in the /etc/vfstab file. As I just
newly started this job, I do not know if swapoff was used but I would
assume it was not. Just a guess though.....
