  1. Video Adapter Driver problem w/ FC6

I'm having trouble with the display on a newly-installed FC6
    machine.
I can only get 800x600 res at best, so I downloaded the drivers (a
    tar.gz file) from Intel.
    (adapter per /etc/sysconfig/hwconf is
"Intel Corporation 82915G/GV/910GL Integrated Graphics Controller").

When I run the install.sh, it complains as follows:
"The DRI drivers can not be installed without the latest kernel
    modules.
Installation will be aborted. See the dri.log file for information on
what went wrong." But the kernel is the latest & greatest.

    In the dri.log file:
    "make -f Makefile.linux DRM_MODULES=gdg.ko modules
    make[1]: Entering directory `/root/graphics/dripkg/drm'
    make -C /lib/modules/2.6.20-1.2925.fc6/build SUBDIRS=`pwd`
    DRMSRCDIR=`pwd` modules
    make[2]: Entering directory `/usr/src/kernels/2.6.20-1.2925.fc6-i586'
rm: cannot remove `/root/graphics/dripkg/drm/.tmp_versions/CVS': Is a
    directory
    make[2]: *** [crmodverdir] Error 1
    make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/kernels/2.6.20-1.2925.fc6-i586'
    make[1]: *** [modules] Error 2
    make[1]: Leaving directory `/root/graphics/dripkg/drm'
    make: *** [gdg.ko] Error 2"

This would seem to indicate there's a problem with doing an 'rm' on
    the
    /root/graphics/dripkg/drm/.tmp_versions/CVS directory.
    I'm skeptical, though.

Any thoughts/experience w/ this sort of thing?

Yes but it doesn't make a lick of sense. Trying changing keyboards while the
computer is running. If you have to reboot it will follow my experience. When it
reboots you will have the other resolution.

When I did it I was forced back to 8x600 and on doing it again I got the higher
    resolution options back.

I do not explain it. I only relate it.

What happens if you remove the 800x600 and smaller screen sizes, leaving only
1024x768 in the "Screen" sections of the XF86Config file?

Does this give you a higher resolution?

    Mark.
