  1. sendmail log help

    We have a list server that is generating a large maillog, and most of
    it is messages like...

    Apr 17 00:05:26 lists sendmail[13831]: ruleset=check_relay,
    arg1=aworklan044099.netvigator.com, arg2=218.103.114.99,
    relay=aworklan044099.netvigator.com [218.103.114.99], reject=550 5.7.1
    Access denied

    ....where it's denying access to certain hosts/domains. What are some
    ways that I can avoid logging these messages?

    You don't want to avoid those messages. Those are ppl trying to relay
    spam e-mail thru your server so it looks as if originated from your dns.
    To slow some down check the logs, if alot are from one source add him to
    your /etc/hosts.deny file. You can block this guy with adding a line in
    /etc/hosts.deny file

    cheers
