Yeah, I didn't really want to do this.
I am building a kernel for another machine.
To do a modules_install, I need to become root on the compile machine.
I did not want to do this. I built the kernel as an ordinary user.
I really do want the modules to install to a directory of my choosing.
Thanks anyway !
bttv not loading for Hauppauge WinTV 250 PCI
I want to convert my VHS tapes to VCD so I installed
a Hauppauge WinTV card.
Everything goes fine until I get to bttv.
bttv is failing to load with a "no such device" error,
but lsmod is finding the PCI card. I not sure want bttv
is looking for, and I don't see anything helpful in the syslog.
any ideas would be helpful?
thanks.

Try MythTV. Oh, and please don't crosspost like that! It's
anti-social and heavily frowned upon. Learn how to behave before you
start posting all over the place.
