Please forgive me if this is not the appropriate ng to post this question
to.

I'm trying to update GLIBC on my Slackware 9.0 system by compiling it from
the sources downloaded from gnu.org. I have not previously updated any
system libraries from what was shipped with Slackware 9.0.

I've been able to successfully 'configure' the glibc build, but receive the
following error during the 'make' process:

In file included from ../include/libc-symbols.h:56,

/usr/src/glibc-2.3.2/glibc-build/config.h:3:3: #error "glibc cannot be
compiled without optimization"

Any ideas what this error is and how to remedy it?

Thank You,
