I never tried them all but you can force ssl on the control channel and
transfer data still unencrypted. Donno which other combinations work but
well try it. Maybe you can find some of the other ssl related options
usefull aswell, see 'set -a|grep ssl' within lftp.

Oh and lftp has a usefull debug mode aswell.
