Do you have a running socket for mysql on:

/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock ?

My FTP error log is showing that I am not able to connect to MySQL
through the sock

I don't know why that is?

When I connect to mysql through my command line the login works just fine...

I did notice that the error log states trying to use
/var/run/mysqld/mysld.sock

That is not where it is on my server. Can I change this in ProFTPd
somewhere?
