through the sock

MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2)'

I don't know why that is?

When I connect to mysql through my command line the login works just fine...

I did notice that the error log states trying to use /var/run/mysqld/mysld.sock

That is not where it is on my server. Can I change this in ProFTPd somewhere?
