This does look helpful, thanks for the quick response!

A quick glance at the config file brings up one question.....do you know
what ProFTPD config command will direct them to /var/www/ and allow full
permissions on this folder?
=20
Once again, thanks for the quick response......

Subject: [Proftpd-user] Default User Permission Issue

Hello - A little embarassed to have to post this here, but I am
having an issue which seems simple but I cannot for the life of my
figure it out....hoping someone can lend me a hand.....
=20
The crux of the issue is that when a user attempts to use a ftp
client (say FileZilla) and copy a file over, they dont receive an error
per se, on the FileZilla screen it shows a bunch of question marks and
does NOT copy the file over.....
=20
I am pretty sure this is because the user does not have the
proper permissions for the folder.
Question: How/Where do I tell ProFTPD what permissions to use
for users....
=20
Background: This is an internal server, no public access. Only
three tech level users need to be able to ftp files to /var/www and have
it have the proper permissions of www-data:www-data and 755. ProFTPD is
running on Ubuntu Server.
=20
Would someone point me in the right direction, or possibly put
together what must be a very simple ProFTPD config file? All I can
promise is a bit of good Karma, and I work for a library if that
increases the warm fuzziness of help
