Hello,

I'm currently experiencing a strange problem, when I try to log in to my
Proftpd-Server (1.3.0).

As you can see from the logfile, the login starts at 22:23:55. I receive
the message "Connected to ..." and then nothings happens for the next 12
seconds. At 22:24:07 the login appears and I can login with username and
password without a problem.

/var/log/messages:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Nov 14 22:23:55 ftp-int proftpd[32515]: ftp-int.xxxxx.internal
(pxxxxx.dip0.t-ipconnect.de[87.139.xxx.xx]) - FTP session opened.
Nov 14 22:24:07 ftp-int proftpd[32515]: ftp-int.xxxx.internal

Login successful.

(pxxxxx.dip0.t-ipconnect.de[87.139.104.120]) - Preparing to chroot to
directory '/srv/www/htdocs/ftp'

Here is the simple configuration file:

/etc/proftpd:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
ServerName "ProFTPD Default Installation"
ServerType standalone
DefaultServer on
Port 21
Umask 022
MaxInstances 30

Group nogroup
DefaultRoot ~
LogFormat write "%h %u %{%s %t}t %r %s %b %m"
ExtendedLog /var/log/proftpd/proftpd-access.log
WRITE,READ write
AllowOverwrite on
TransferLog /var/log/proftpd/xferlog

And here is the output of strace, while I'm logging in. Should I care
about the "Input/Output errors" and the "No such file or directory"?

ftp-int:/var/log # strace -p 5934

setuid(0) = ? ERESTARTNOHAND (To be restarted)

0xffa4e1c0) = 0
time(NULL) = 0
time(ptrace: umoven: Input/output error

I have already checked the DNS configuration. SSH responds immediately,
when I try to login.

Thanks for any hints or suggestions,

Stefan
