FIFO logging works perfectly!
In fact, I'm managing some FTP servers which have to perform extra operations on uploaded files.
My first platform used mod_exec. But I quickly faced issues:
- security (chroot issues)
- performances

Now, I wrote a perl daemon which read the FIFO and spawn childs...

client -> proftpd -> FIFO -> daemon -> child
