In general, when posting problems about PPP, please run with the pppd
'debug' option enabled, and daemon.debug redirected to a file in
/etc/syslog.conf, and do _not_ trim out messages from the logs.

The error you're showing here usually means that the peer isn't
running PPP at all. This can be caused by a bad 'chat' script (among
    other things).

    > OK "atdt042110011"
    > "ogin:" "myusermane"
    > "word:" "mypassword"

Are you absolutely sure this ISP wants you to do a text-mode login
before running PPP, and then will launch into PPP immediately?

That's highly unusual. It's very likely to be wrong. I'd replace the
    above with this:

    OK "atdt042110011"
    CONNECT '\c'

That's the most likely chat script (the one that's most likely to work
right with most ISPs). Yours could be different. You'll need either
to verify with the ISP or to try using a terminal program (such as
miniterm, kermit, or cu) to dial the modem manually and determine what
steps are necessary to start PPP on the peer.

    > as you see after one minute my connection was terminated .. anyone
    > have some idea
    > why?

It was never established. The peer wasn't running PPP.

ppp0 does so exist. The problem is in y our ppp setup. More info is needed

Your chat file is dumb. Almost no isp uses login. Instead end your chat
    script with
    CONNECT `\d\c`
and get rid of the ogin: and word: lines.

No. Not enough info, but I suspect because you tried to login.

He'll also need to configure pppd with the option "user "
    and add the line

    *

    to the /etc/ppp/{chap,pap}-secrets files.

Yes. You're rejecting PAP authentication because you haven't
configured it yet. You'll need to do that; read the pppd man page.

Here's a suggestion: add "user yournamehere" to your pppd options,
then add this line to /etc/ppp/pap-secrets:

yournamehere * "your password here" *

Replace "yournamehere" with your user name at this ISP, and "your
password here" with your corresponding PAP password.

Unfortunately, we're not able to access your complete log files from
here. We can see only what you post. If you delete crucial
information when you post, we won't be able to figure out what it
    might have been.

    Just use

    CONNECT \d\c

That is, omit the single-quotes ('').

    > May 28 11:01:47 zmaj chat[392]: send (`\dc`^M)

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
    This should be " send (\d) ".

    Yes. You rejected pap authentication.

    You either do not have

    set up properly

Thank you, Bill. I had a big problem while trying to connect to my
    provider. Using your site

http://www.theory.physics.ubc.ca/ppp-linux.html, I could solve my problem. The only thing, I encountered, was error "Unknown host" while ping'ing to DNS IP. I forgot to add "defaultroute" into the pppd command.

    Thank You
