Thread: ppp-2.4.2 with pty loop with Terminating on signal 15

  1. ppp-2.4.2 with pty loop with Terminating on signal 15

I try with different user space programs
    - pppoa3 from speedtouch driver V1.2beta3
    - pppoa from eagle-usb driver V1.9.4
    - pppoe from rp-pppoe V3.5

Two kernel were used under test (2.4.21 and 2.4.24 compilated with gcc2.95.3
    with and without ssp patch)

Tests with ppp-2.4.1 and ppp-2.4.2b3 do not show this problem

Connection start and reconnection are OK.
Only halting the connexion show the problem
    Feb 14 22:19:15 ipcop pppd[3367]: Terminating on signal 15.
Feb 14 22:19:15 ipcop last message repeated 102 times

    Feb 14 22:19:15 ipcop logger: EAGLE-USB: stop
    Feb 14 22:19:15 ipcop pppd[3367]: Terminating on signal 15.

at this time, I do kill -KILL 3367 wich is the only way I find to stop pppd

There is a bug in 2.4.2 that caused this for a Control-C (signal 2)
at the command line before pppd detaches. The patch at the web site in
my signature, provided by Paul Mackerras on the linux-ppp mailing list,
should work to fix your problem too. It just swaps two adjacent lines
    of code in main.c.

    Ok it work
    Thank
Just for reference purpose, the indicated patch there is inverted (replace -
    with + and vice-versa)

Just to be clear: It doesn't make any difference which file's lines are
prefixed by + and which are prefixed by - . I just used vi to swap the
lines, as shown in the patch snippet sent by Paul Mackerras, and used that
to make the patch that's at my web site. Either way the patch works.
