Thread: SSHF ?

  1. SSHF ?

    Hi,

    what is the meaning of SSHF in the PPP tracing of a Windows 2K or XP log
    when it lists the negotiated options?
    Apparently, it is always "OFF".

    LCP Local Options-------------
    MRU=1500,ACCM=-1,Auth=0,MagicNumber=25318195,PFC=OFF,ACFC=OFF
    Recv Framing = PPP,SSHF=OFF,MRRU=1500,LinkDiscrim=0,BAP=OFF
    LCP Remote Options-------------
    MRU=1500,ACCM=-1,Auth=c223,MagicNumber=756251786,PFC=OFF,ACFC=OFF
    Send Framing = PPP,SSHF=OFF,MRRU=1500,LinkDiscrim=0
    LCP Configured successfully

    thanks.

    I believe that's the Short Sequence Number Header Format option from
    RFC 1990. It's not crucial, but it probably should be on for
    lower-speed links (or cases with little intra-link delay variance) and
    off for other cases.
