Thread: PPP and LCP communication

  1. PPP and LCP communication

    Hi,

I know there has been a lot of discussion about PPP and LCP, but none of them weren't helpping me because I'm stuck in the different part of the whole PPP thing.

I have embedded hardware with Telit GC864 - GSM/GPRS - modem connected through USB-RS232-serial port converter to actual hardware. I was able to use AT-commands to make the modem to call my cell so that much I know that the communication between hardware and the modem is working and the modem is working too (at least in some level).

I use Linux 2.6.27 and PPP version 2.4.4.

    In /etc/ppp/peers/gprs I have following:

    Code:
    /dev/ttyUSB1 9600
    debug
    kdebug 7
    connect 'chat -vsf /etc/ppp/chat/gprs'
    novj
    asyncmap 0
    defaultroute
    usepeerdns
    In /etc/ppp/chat/gprs I have following:

    Code:
    ABORT "BUSY"
    ABORT "NO CARRIER"
    ABORT "ERROR"
    ABORT "NO DIALTONE"
    ABORT "NO ANSWER"
    TIMEOUT 90
    "" AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet"
    OK "ATD*99***1#"
    CONNECT ""
And this is what I get when executing command: pppd logfile /tmp/pppd.log file /etc/ppp/peers/gprs debug kdebug 7

    Code:
    abort on (BUSY)
    abort on (NO CARRIER)
    abort on (ERROR)
    abort on (NO DIALTONE)
    abort on (NO ANSWER)
    timeout set to 90 seconds
    send (AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet"^M)
    expect (OK)
    AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet"^M^M
    OK
     -- got it

    send (ATD*99***1#^M)
    expect (CONNECT)
    ^M
    ATD*99***1#^M^M
    CONNECT
     -- got it

    send (^M)
    Serial connection established.

    LCP: timeout sending Config-Requests
    Connection terminated.
    Modem hangup
I replaced < and > with { and } to make them show in the listing.

I've seen discussion about that LCP ConfReq not getting any responses, but I'm not sure if my problem is earlier since I see that first rcvd is alread LCP ConfRej. Also there is mentionet 'No auth is possible'. I've searched google and tried pretty much everything that comes to my mind, but haven't been able to figure out how to fix the problem.

    All the help is welcome.

  2. Re: PPP and LCP communication

i had a similar problem with my telit module, i have added AT#GAUTH=0 in the chat script to make it work, explanations are in the telit AT ref. guide. good luck
