  1. Thinkpad 760el D-Link dfe-690-txd problems

    Hi,

I've been working on getting some Thinkpads working with wired and
wireless pcmcia/cardbus. Spent more time than I should. Rather interesting,
    BUT.

I need some fresh eyes on this one.

I've googled quite a bit. Got a lot of useful steering/pointers.
    Still no joy!

The TP760el is on a dockstation at this time. The output is for this state.
I've tried it without the dockstation. I use the 3com NIC (eth1) in the
dockstation to link to my lan.

The D-Link DFE-690TXD shows a link light when connected. And assigned eth0.

Presently I'm using Slackware 10.1 with the stock kernel 2.4.29.

I've built a kernel without pcmcia or cardbus, no hotplug devices. Then use
    D. Hinds pcmcia-cs-3.2.8. No joy!

This output is for a Slackware 10.1 stock 2.4.29

I could really use some help here. I'm stuck, point period.
I have several TP760el and 1 TP760xl that I would like to set-up as small
    access controllers for some experiments.

    Any help would be appreciated!

Are you sure, there aren't any kernel pcmcia modules, specifically
    yenta, lying around?

Here is your problem. Your TI PCI1130 Cardbus controller isn't supported
by the kernel (yenta), but is by pcmcia-cs.

Another, perhaps better, path is to fiddle with your kernel. See

    https://sourceforge.net/forum/forum....&forum_id=7049

second-last post. That is what worked for me on 2.4.26 and 2.4.30 on a
Dell Latitude XPI P150CD, which has the same controller.

    Best regards,

Mostly correct. For this laptop, you must use pcmcia-cs, so please
report the symptoms with that setup, instead of with yenta. The
problem isn't with the TI 1130 itself, which is supported fine by the
kernel PCMCIA drivers. The problem is that the TP760EL left the PCI
interrupt pins of the TI 1130 unconnected.

  4. Re: Thinkpad 760el D-Link dfe-690-txd problems

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply guys! I will take Sune and DHinds advice and work with
the pcmcia-cs-3.2.8. It may take awhile but I've got the time.

I'll post the output from the pcmcia-cs once completed.

    Again, thanks for the input!
