I'm running debian sarge on a Dell Laditute D600 with an Intel 8x0
soundcard. The sound on the internal speakers of the notebook runs
very good but if i connect a headphone on the headphone output on the
notenook the sound quality is very bad.
I think it is a problem of the volume level but i don't know were I
can decrease them. When I run alsamixer I found only one item, called
IEC958 Playback AC97-SPSA, which change the output level. If I
increase the level of this item higher 0, the sound over the headphone
stops totally.

further information on my soundcard:

Card: Intel 82801DB-ICH4
Chip: SigmaTel STAC9750/51

Thanks in advance for all hints.
