Thread: cardmgr[1064]: open_sock(socket 0) failed: Device or resource busy

  1. cardmgr[1064]: open_sock(socket 0) failed: Device or resource busy

    to group.

    what does the message:

cardmgr[1064]: open_sock(socket 0) failed: Device or resource busy?
i am in process of trying to get my laptop to use a zcom XI-325
    wireless card.
i have emerged pcmcia-cs and modified and run the command
    cardctl ident to get.

    product info: " ", "IEEE 802.11 Wireless LAN/PC Card", ""
    manfid: 0xd601, 0x0005
    function: 6 (network)

i then added the lines to the the file /etc/pcmcia/config file:

card "IEEE 802.11 Wireless LAN/PC Card"
    #version "ZCOMAX", "AirRunner/XI-325"
    manfid 0xd601, 0x0005
    bind "orinoco_cs"

when i pop out and pop in the card i get the following?

cardmgr[1064]: open_sock(socket 0) failed: Device or resource busy

    whats going on?

    jim

Did you do "cardctl eject 0" before removing and reinserting card?

When making changes to pcmcia you may have to eject the card and restart
pcmcia (or maybe stop hotplug and pcmcia and start them again in proper
order). Something in /etc/init.d (or /etc/rc.d/) would tell you which
starts first (in rc.3 or rc.5 depending upon runlevel).

I don't think that's what you get when you pop out and pop in the
card. It is what you get when you try to start cardmgr when it is
    already running.
