Thread: ACPI Problems

  1. ACPI Problems

I'm running mandrake 9.1 on an HP Pavilion ze4300. I've recompiled my
kernel 2.4.21 with the latest acpi patch. I've also disassembled
dsdt.hex, modifying and reassembling. When I boot with acpi enabled
(apm=off pci=noacpi) it hangs with the last line reading "Executing
all Device _STA and_INI methods:...". I've included the output of
dmesg and lspci -vv below when I disable acpi. My bios doesnt include
any settings for pnp or acpi. Also, in dmesg I get a warning for
"redundant entry in pci table", and for pci 0:10.0 pin A is routed to
    IRQ 0.

    Thanks in advance

It is my understanding that mdk kernels do not need patches for acpi. At
least for mine I got the source for the current kernel foo.mdk. Fixed the
setting to look for a user supplied DSDT. Compiled and installed. Reboot
to the new kernel and everything worked good.
    Good Luck.

  3. Re: ACPI Problems

    Todd,

Check your kernel config to make sure APM is NOT built at all, not
compiled into the kernel, not built as a module. Sometimes ACPI and
APM loading at the same time will hang the system at boot.
