Using the framebuffer console, I assume? IIRC, the Gentoo
LiveCD has several options for the kernel, so there may be
another kernel that works better. I have a Pentium-MMX 200
MHz, running OpenBox, links, mutt, and slrn. Took a while
to compile, though (days).
