  1. Bug in PGP Corporation PGP 8.1.0 for Windows folder right click hangs

Can someone else verify this PGP 8.1.0 for Windows bug on WinXP SP2?

First stop the PGPserv service (what does it do anyway?)
    c:\> net stop PGPserv

Then set that unneeded PGPserv service startup to MANUAL
    Start -> Run -> services.msc -> PGPserv -> MANUAL

Then remove the pgptray.exe startup menu item & reboot.

When the Windows XP SP2 machine comes back up, try to right click on a
folder (sometimes it takes a few tries).

Does your folder right click hang forever (incessant hourglass)?

If your folder right-click stops responding, you will have proven the PGP
bug in the PGP Corporation context menu handler for folders.

You can get the folders to respond again by disabling the PGP context menu
handler using NirSoft ShellExView or similar program.

Googling for "right click folder hangs stops responding" you'll find
thousands of users have this problem.

    Dear Cindy

I think Seth Goodman has answered your question already.
Under PGP 8.x, one has to start PGP Service and PGPTray
in order for the programme to work properly. If you have
right-clicked before the above 2 processes got started,
I guess the Explorer shell might be hanged.

You can simply generate a batch file to start both
PGP Service and PGPTray before start using PGP 8.x
    next time.
