Thread: Discrepancy in internal build level

  1. Discrepancy in internal build level

I'm running eCS 1.1 and wanted to write a tool that would examine
PMDFVERS.LST and then copy some symbol information into the proper PMDF
directory. I get an internal build level of 14.93 from bldlevel
    g:\OS2KRNL, with a signature of @#IBM:14.093#@_W4 IBM OS/2 Kernel.
OS2KRNL contains the strings "Internal revision 14.093_W4" and
"@#IBM:14.093#@_W4 IBM OS/2 Kernel". PMDF identifies the internal build
level from dumps as 14.093_W4. If I delete g:\os2\PDPSI\PMDF\pmdfvers.lst,
PMDF builds a new one containing

    warp45_s;14.093F_SMP;WSeB/ACP SMP
    warp45_u;14.093F_UNI;WSeB/ACP UNI
    warp45;14.093F_W4;Warp 4/MCP

The OS/2 Debugging Handbook says to use either the BLDLEVEL output or the
level in the @#IBM string, but they are not the same and neither matches
the information from PMDF. So where do I find the correct internal build
level for the entry in pmdfvers.lst? Have the discrepancies already been
    resolved in 1.2R or 2.0RC4?

I don't remember any more but I know a way to test:
Load a dump that is marked as 14.093_W4. If PMDF DOES NOT ask you to specify
which dump formatter to use, you have the correct identifying string in
PMDFVERS.LST. If it asks you which dump formatter to use, you do not yet
have the correct identifiying string in PMDFVERS.LST. My feeling is, the
    correct identifiying string is "14.093_W4".

P.S.: Make absolutely sure that you DO NOT have an empty line at the end of
PMDFVERS.LST (the file has to end WITHOUT carriage return/line feed).
