find out what service your ssh damon is using for logging...
# grep log sshd_config
#SyslogFacility AUTH
SyslogFacility AUTHPRIV

configure /etc/syslog.conf for the proper facility.
# The authpriv file has restricted access.
authpriv.* /var/log/secure

/etc/init.d/syslog restart

you should be good to go after that.
