Post the output from this dig command "dig A pool.ntp.org" if you don't
see a list of A or AAAA records run this command "dig A pool.ntp.org +trace"

The pool is working from here.

    It works for me:

    $ host pool.ntp.org
    pool.ntp.org A 66.111.33.160

Here are the results of a few tests I did from my oco.net dialup:

pool.ntp.org has a few minor DNS configuration problems, but is resolving.
    See http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/dnsrep...3Dpool.ntp.org

I am able to synchronize reliably:

    ntpdate path = /bin/ntpdate
    work file = /tmp/freetime.dat pool.ntp.org, -0000
    server 193.125.143.140, stratum 2, offset -0.023540,
    delay 0.36536 offset = -0.02354 time zone = -0
    Time correction = -0.02354 (0 sec. -23539 usec)
    Succesfully adjusted clock

    ntpdate path = /bin/ntpdate
    work file = /tmp/freetime.dat pool.ntp.org, -0000
    server 193.125.143.140, stratum 2, offset -0.006980,
    delay 0.36537 offset = -0.00698 time zone = -0
    Time correction = -0.00698 (0 sec. -6980 usec)
    Succesfully adjusted clock

    delay 0.36522 offset = -0.005079 time zone = -0
    Time correction = -0.005079 (0 sec. -5078 usec)
    Succesfully adjusted clock

    Bob,

Looks fine here. Are you sure there aren't any filters
you are running into? As you can see below, all of the ntp.org
nameservers are returning proper delegations for pool.ntp.org,
and all of the ntpns.org nameservers respond with the pool RR
    for me:

Thank you all for your replies.

The "hardware box" I was using does not support the dig command so I
tried it on a nearby SuSE PC - that gets proper responses as you have
    detailed.
All I have to find out now is why these boxes no longer work with
pool.ntp.org - "everything" else resolves OK.
    Many thanks.

Another thing I *just* thought about. I was reading an article with Vista
having trouble with IPv6 (I don't know the specifics). But apparently people
had to remove their IPv6 driver in order for things to start working again.

Just thought I would throw this out there incase you are using Vista and
IPv6, might be worth trying just for the green apples and BS.

The Windows code doesn't yet support IPv6 so it's a non-issue at the
moment. I've working on getting it implemented.
