Hi, I've download, compiled and installed nfs-utils 1.0.6 on
http://sourceforge.net/projects/nfs for using it with kernel 2.6.3
Config of the kernel:

#
# Network File Systems
#
CONFIG_NFS_FS=y
CONFIG_NFS_V3=y
# CONFIG_NFS_V4 is not set
# CONFIG_NFS_DIRECTIO is not set
CONFIG_NFSD=y
CONFIG_NFSD_V3=y
# CONFIG_NFSD_V4 is not set
CONFIG_NFSD_TCP=y
CONFIG_LOCKD=y
CONFIG_LOCKD_V4=y
CONFIG_EXPORTFS=y
CONFIG_SUNRPC=y
# CONFIG_SUNRPC_GSS is not set
# CONFIG_SMB_FS is not set
# CONFIG_CIFS is not set
# CONFIG_NCP_FS is not set
# CONFIG_CODA_FS is not set
# CONFIG_INTERMEZZO_FS is not set
# CONFIG_AFS_FS is not set

The problem I have is that showmount don't seems to comunicate with the
pormapper:

root@ether:/ # showmount
mount clntudp_create: RPC: Port mapper failure - RPC: Unable to receive

On the other hand, I have no problem to mount exported directories:

root@ether:/ # cat /etc/exports
/tftpboot localhost(rw,no_root_squash,no_all_squash,sync)

root@ether:/ # mount localhost:/tftpboot /mnt
root@ether:/ # umount /mnt/

I've done a lots of tests without firewall (iptables), tcp wrappers,
hosts.allow and hosts.deny but without positives results.

root@ether:/ # rpcinfo -p localhost
program vers proto port
100000 2 tcp 111 portmapper
100000 2 udp 111 portmapper
100011 1 udp 889 rquotad
100011 2 udp 889 rquotad
100003 2 udp 2049 nfs
100003 3 udp 2049 nfs
100003 2 tcp 2049 nfs
100003 3 tcp 2049 nfs
100021 1 udp 32776 nlockmgr
100021 3 udp 32776 nlockmgr
100021 4 udp 32776 nlockmgr
100021 1 tcp 32778 nlockmgr
100021 3 tcp 32778 nlockmgr
100021 4 tcp 32778 nlockmgr
100005 1 udp 905 mountd
100005 1 tcp 908 mountd
100005 2 udp 905 mountd
100005 2 tcp 908 mountd
100005 3 udp 905 mountd
100005 3 tcp 908 mountd
100024 1 udp 32779 status
100024 1 tcp 32779 status

I have the same result even if NFS services are not started:

root@ether:/etc/init.d # ./nfslock.init stop
Shutting down NFS file locking services:
Shutting down NFS statd: [
OK ]
root@ether:/etc/init.d # ./nfs.init stop
Shutting down NFS mountd: [
OK ]
Shutting down NFS daemon: [
OK ]
Shutting down NFS quotas: [
OK ]
Shutting down NFS services: [
OK ]
root@ether:/etc/init.d # rpcinfo -p localhost
program vers proto port
100000 2 tcp 111 portmapper
100000 2 udp 111 portmapper
root@ether:/etc/init.d # showmount
mount clntudp_create: RPC: Port mapper failure - RPC: Unable to receive

Is somebody can help me and have any idea ?
Thanks a lot in advance.
Jerome.
