    In an IP Address there are 32BITS (in binary that is).

    Where a numerical IP looks like this 192.168.1.1
    In Binary it looks like this 01010101.10101010.10101010.10101010 <(--
    example.

    The subnetmask for 192.168.1.1 would be 255.255.255.0 (8+8+8=24 bits.
    The Subnetmask in binary for a Class C looks like this
    11111111.11111111.11111111.00000000. The 1 bits means they are
    switched "ON".
