Hi,
I have read a article
http://searchnetworking.techtarget.c...00R09Jan04.pdf
about 3com vs cisco switching througput test report.
they tested 64; 512 and 1518 byes frame sizes using smartbits.
for a 3com 7700 switching 48 ports (1Gbit for each port)
so max\.theoretical throught (full duplex) =96Gbit.

smartbits send 142,857,143pps(packets-per-second) for 64bytes packet size
test
96,000,000,000/142,857,143/8=84 bytes
my question is 84-64=20 so 20 byes overhead from ? are they is
des./source addr. etc. ?
also why use 1518? Is ethernet max. size =1500? (for ethernet data payload
46--1500)

Thanks in advance,
