Because computer scientists like all scientist are exact. That is the
exact limit
to the 100th of data that can be pumped through that medium. If you
want to tell your buddy over a beer and some hotwings what the maximum
bandwidth over standard fiber channel you have mine and most likely
the rest of the not so scientific world's permission to say 52mbps.
