can i use a switch to have diff.protocol run i mean in a mixed network
environ i've got novell and windows so i can use some ports for novell
clients and some for windows clients? is it possible? help appreciated.

If the question is: Can a switch handle Novell's IPX and Windows
NetBEUI|TCPIP at the same time, the answer is yes.
The switch handles standard Ethernet packets, and IPX, NetBEUI and IP are
all based on Ethernet.
