on email antivirus checking to be in the DMZ
> My question is this: Is this really necisary?

It all depends on an organizations need for security. If it is very,
very high (or higher), then perhaps it is necessary.
Just because no body has yet discovered how to directly work its way
through an antivirus tool, doesn't mean that it can't happen in the
future and may even happen (extremely low chance) against GWAVA.

You can't have a secure system without a solid dose of paranoia.
