Thread: references between Bugzilla and RCS

  1. references between Bugzilla and RCS

    Greetings,

I would like to create references between bugzilla comments and our
    RCS (Mercurial).

A simple solution would be to add another type of automatic reference
like it is done with "bug #...". Like, if you commit a fix for an
issue, I would like to be able to enter something like "rcs
#5a237d3db2d5" which then is automagically converted into a URL that
points to the respective changeset in the RCS web frontend. I figure
that this change is not horribly complicated, but I could not yet
locate the place in the Bugzilla source to add it.

The full solution would be to enforce that with every commit message,
the bugzilla number is provided, and a trigger function in the RCS
then adds a comment to Bugzilla via some interface (email,
    http, ...?).

Generally, creating relations between Bugzilla and an RCS should be a
common problem, so any FAQ pointers are welcome - I couldn't find
    such, though.

    thanks, Joachim

O.k., it *is* a solved problem (at least for Mercurial / Bugzilla),
see description of the available bugzilla hook for Mecurial at
    http://hgbook.red-bean.com/read/hand...ith-hooks.html.
