  1. Bugzilla 3.2.3/GMAIL/SMTP

I have been trying to get bugzilla to send email using SMTP using
gmail and I have had no luck.

To use gmail's SMTP servers you need to specify a port number of 465
    or 587.

In bugzilla, I set the following parameters (for email):

    mailfrom: bugzilla@ourdomain.com
    smtpserver: smtp.gmail.com:587
    smtp_username: bugzilla@ourdomain.com
    smtp_password: secret
    smtp_debug: on

When I attempt to update a bug, I get the following message:

HASH(0x19ec71d0) --- Title of the page

Bugzilla has suffered an internal error. Please save this page and
send it to bradf@ourdomain.com with details of what you were doing at
    the time this message appeared.

    URL: http://192.168.1.11/process_bug.cgi
There was an error sending mail from 'bugzilla@ourdomain.com' to
    'willl@ourdomain.com':Couldn't connect to smtp.gmail.com:587

I look in the error log that I have setup for my bugzilla virtual host
and I don't see anything in there referring to SMTP anything.

    Any advice?

    Thanks,

    Brad

I figured I would post my solution to the problem just in case anyone
runs in to the same issue.

I browsed through the open bugs/enhancements in bugzilla and I got the
impression that there was still some work to do on the TLS side of
things. It is one thing to change the port, but without the STARTTLS
command before the conversation, it still isn't going to work.
Admittedly, I didn't spend a ton of time researching it, I was just
looking for a simple solution to implement, so I could be 100% wrong
about the TLS support within Bugzilla (or Net::SMTP).

What I ended up doing was configuring POSTFIX to use CYRUS SASL to
relay for me and set bugzilla to use sendmail!

    Thanks for the help everyone.

I used perl package Email-Send-Gmail. It required almost no changes in
    bugzilla code.

    Hi Friends,
I installed bugzilla3.2.3 in windows 2003 server. Is it possible to
    use bugzilla without using SMTP.
For eg: if i assign bug to some person. When that person login with
their username and password in bugzilla, they can view the bug.
If i want to use SMTP, i should select mail_Delivery_method type, then
what should i give in the "Mail_From", so please tell me
