I have created a plugin for Firefox that uses DirectX to render a 3D
virtual world. The plugin has been available for over 3 years and has
worked fine with Firefox 2.x. However with Firefox 3.x black areas are
drawn on the menu and toolbars where the mouse has been, see image:

I have tested the same plugin using OpenGL and it works fine. I have
also used the same plugin with DirectX and run it on the latest
versions of Opera and Chrome with no problems. The problem occurs on
Windows XP and Vista and my users are seeing it with different
graphics cards and driver versions, a bad driver was the first
suspect.

So the problem is only on Firefox 3.x and only with DirectX 9 or 10 on
Windows XP or Vista.

Other people have had similar problems, see this thread:

Has anyone here come across this problem before or can anyone suggest
a better place to ask for assistance?
