There is only one issue. And that is, Gmail provides POP and SMTP (and
IMAP) for free. Gmail is not competing with the desktop email client,
they are glad for people who use it, in addition to using the webmail.
I find use for both, for example Gmail's spam filter, but I write all
of my emails on Thunderbird. I would like Thunderbird to improve the
compose part of the application. And I HATE facebook and twitter.
