Forcing only one Mail/News window open at once?
Is there any way to tell SM that it is to only have one instance
of the main mail/news client open at any given time? And to
switch/focus on it when I request another communicator window?
I'm pretty sure this is what's causing my news database corruption.

having more than one email/news application open won't
corrupt databases. Whatever happens in one that just
opened, should happen automatically in the other thats
been opened for a while. Atleast thats the way it
works for me.
But, you might want to be more specific and tell us why
you're having problems with your news database.
