Anybody got any recommendations on whether one can hire someone to
straighten out existing contact databases and/or enter new ones from the
    paper and/or business cards?

Is there a good way to find out if you are getting competent help?

    Thanks,

as you will probably have to pay for the service anyway, I would suggest
you check-out your local Yellow Pages (telephone business directory) -
look for a company that specialises in Networking as a sounding board,
    and work from there!

    Hi Reg.

    Thanks.

How tricky/savvy does someone need to be in order to "straighten out" a
poorly cared for set of contacts?

I guess I'm hoping for advice on what to look for and ask for. For
instance I'm super fluent and savvy with certain types of software and
could straighten out a 24 car wreck if necessary. What skills do I look
    for with database/contacts?

In some cases I've got OE, OL etc databases that may or may not have
made it into Thunderbird. Is this going to take someone special I
imagine? Or is this just a sort of mundane task...?

well now - any job you have that requires a specialist would indicate
the you are "out of your field" there... If you consider it to be
mundane, then it shows that you have some savvy in that area???

Me not know - me dumbass :-P

I just wanted to give you a hint on where to start!
