    Other Products mozilla.org

If you do file one, please post the bug number here.

FWIW, AIUI, as long as Giganews is hosting the groups, any binaries
group will have to be moderated.

It can be done starting here IIRC:

choosing the component "Newsgroups". Explanation says: "Any issues
having to do with adding/removing/renaming newsgroups or the setup of
    the hierarchy."

The purpose of the newsgroup is for testing multimedia messages, and
help composing HTML messages. In order for the group to allow binaries,
Giganews (who hosts these newsgroups) set a condition that it had to be
a moderated newsgroup, ensuring that the newsgroup not be used as a
binary dumping ground, especially considering that the newsgroup is open
    to the general public.

From a support POV, the most user-friendly solution is to give the user
a link directly to the image hosted on a web site, rather than forcing
them to subscribe to a separate newsgroup and search for a specific
post. Especially, when the newsgroups are mirrored with mailing lists
    and Google Groups.

Phillip asked me to cite an instance, and I did. That does not mean the
one instance is the soul reason. Phillip proved I was right, when he
    tried to post screenshots.

    > Gus's post was OT for MTMM and should have been made in .thunderbird but

    He could have:
    a) not replied
    b) replied off newsgroup (e.g. email or in the correct newsgroup)
    c) replied and set a follow-up to mozilla.general, just as Terry did in
    that very same thread.

    > And this means that by that answer Phillip was taken off the list
    > because he should have realized that Gus's post was OT in MTMM? Gee whiz
    > man, what a stretch!!

I think there may be confusion about what "the list" is. The
auto-approve list is completely separate from mailing list membership.
As MTMM admin, I can set it to automatically approve messages from
certain non-members. By taking Phillip off the auto-approve list, it
just means that his messages have to await my approval before making it
to the newsgroup. He is NOT BANNED.

Actually you received an auto-generated message, saying that your
message was *awaiting moderator approval*, because you were not a
mailing list member. Why did you want to be a member?

Moderated shouldn't be a problem as some already are and a willing

Have you ever stopped to consider that Phillip has limitations of a
personal matter that only he should discuss rather than some of us that
know him. He already has made known some of his physical and mental
limitations due to a medical condition or two. There are lots of things

We are well aware of which list is being discussed and yes we know he's
    not banned.

BTW, you owe Phil an apology IMHO for accusing him of attempting to
willfully circumvent the posting of his screenshot(s) in MTMM. He meant
    no such thing.

and besides, the Mozilla Bully isn't the list owner of this

From my search on plain text tags, it appears the tags are converted
from "plain text" into HTML through the browser within TB. Since
Phillips issue was involving the display of plain text tags, it would
seem his issue would be related to HTML, and would then NOT be OT for
    the group.

    *From http://www.bucksch.org/1/projects/mozilla/16507/*

It looks for "plain text tags", symbols, which surround words or phrases
to format them or show their meaning. Their semantic is much like HTML,
just that the interpretation is usually up to the reader (this code
tries to change that). For more information about structured phrases in
plain text, please read Jargon File, Hacker Writing Style.

E.g. "This is *important*!" is transformed to "This is class=moz-txt-star>*important*!" and would be displayed like
    the following:

    This is *important*!

    plainTextTag htmlTag
    Tag Attributes Example
    * strong class=moz-txt-star *strong*
    / em class=moz-txt-slash /emphasis/
    _ span2 class=moz-txt-underscore _underline_
    | code class=moz-txt-verticalline |code|
