  1. Ack! Everytime I uninstall and reinstall, firefox says firefoxalready running

I keep getting an error msg that firefox is already running, even
after several attempts at uninstalling it, deleting the profile
folder, restarting, downloading the latest firefox (using explorer),
installing the new version, restarting the computer, then starting
firefox. Still, same msg, an instance of firefox is already running,
    must stop it before starting.

Can anybody give me some info on what do to?

    Thanks.

Could it be that you are not closing it down correctly? It's not
sufficient to click the usual little cross in the top right-hand corner
    - you have to close it with File > Exit, or better still use the "Exit
Button Firefox" extension and place the big red button somewhere handy.
I put mine next to the usual "X", so I remember to use it. "Exit Button
    Thunderbird helps too!

    Regards,

Check your operating system's task list for firefox, and kill (end) it.

    See https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=239223

    1. Use task Manager (CTRL-ALT-DEL) and look at the Processes Tab. Is
firefox.exe listed? If so, click on End Process.

    2. Use Windows Explorer to check your Firefox Profile[1] for the file
parent.lock. If it exists, delete it.

This happens to me every week or so and I kill the process using Microsoft's
    Process Explorer
    (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/s.../bb896653.aspx). I haven't
figured out why it occurs, but it is easy to kill, and Process Explorer is a
    great program to have running.

Wish you'd have seen mine last week. This looks much easier than the
way I've had to get it back.

IMHO Mozilla is following Microshaft, bloat it up and bug it out. Never
had this problem with any but the newest updates of both.

    Thanks for the neat tool.
