Thread: log in? and context-based Save

  1. log in? and context-based Save

    Two questions:

    a) When did it start being required to log in in order to download add-ons?

    b) Is there -- or has anyone thought about -- an add-on
that would enable the various file/image-saving actions
    to be context-dependent?

    E.g.

    Use /Documents as the *default*
for menu function "File->Save as ..."

Use for mouse-on-image, right-click, "Save image as ..."

Use for mouse-on-image, right-click, "Save image as ..."
when the URL's domain is "flickr.com"

Use All Users/Documents/My Downloads as the *default*
for "You have chosen to open: .exe"
    "which is a Application"
    "from http://blahblahblah.tld"
"Would you like to save this file?"

Use All Users/Documents/My Downloads/Security as the *default*
for "You have chosen to open: .exe"
    "which is a Application"
    "from http://blahblahblah.tld"
"Would you like to save this file?"
when the URL's domain is "xxxxxxxx.tld"

Never -- for those which have been approved for public use. The only
extensions at AMO which are only available to logged-in users are those
which are still experimental (and shown to logged-in users in a red
frame). Use them at your own risk, some of them might be dangerous,
malicious, or not well tested enough.

    Best regards,
    Tony.
