Images failing to load
Hi all!
XP SP2,FF 2.0.0.13. I sometimes visit sites where some images fail to
show. A couple of examples would be:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/worldonthemove/ where the background map is
missing, and:
http://www.standrewsstreetbaptist.org/welcome.htm where the buttons are
not appearing. I've tried safe mode, and also checked suggestions from
previous posts about image settings, but without success. Any ideas?
TIA

What sort of images, gif or jpg pictures? Cannot see anything wrong. Is
it the scrollable world map that's missing?

Buttons, those on the menu list? That's fine here.

Hi Geoff,
Did you perhaps update from something like pre 2.0.0.5
Without looking closely at your examples, it is probably due to
external images, frequently blocked by dial-up users as such third party
site images are frequently tied to advertising and can make browsing
almost impossible with phone lines. Sorry can't point you to the
entire thread as Google has messed up (I doubt that it is anything
outside of Google, this is an old thread), but this is my reply to a
similar question.

As mentioned there, there are several ways to turn option on/off even
though it is no longer in tools, options and you may have accidentally
changed preference through Web Developer..

Since the old ways of seeing threads at Google Groups no longer
work, and there aren't enough people to complain. Google's
normal strategy is divide and conquer.
You can click on the top link of the page
http://groups.google.com/group/mozil...badfd6c9acc3c6
on the first line "Message from discussion Can't view any images on websites"
click on that link to see the thread. You'd think they could at least put in the
word thread, but they want to make you think that it is strictly Google
that runs all newsgroups.

Thanks, David! It was the default image permission that was doing it: I
changed it to 1 as per your archived posting and all is now well. And I
agree with your grumpiness about Google...

The temporary fix for the spam flood we had been experiencing has had
the side effect of disabling the Google Groups archive.
