can not 'edit-saved-passwords'
version 2.0.0.14 (20080421)
Mac OS/X Leopard
I had to do a complete and fresh install due to repeated demands for
certain iMap passwords from TB. Note it was OK in safe mode. However,
there were other corruption issues and I decided aa new version was
best. I moved key3.db straight across to a non-default "Profile" I made.
I can log into and get email and news-servers.
However, if I try and see which saved passwords are there now, I get a
brief flash of a window on the screen and it's gone. Not hidden, but
gone. ... though I am able to have TB extract saved passwords for
getting email off servers.
ideas?

There is no real editing facility. However, you can *remove* an entry in
the password list. The next time an account password is required, you'll
have to enter the (new) password manually with an option to store it again.

agreed. The issue, however, remains that when I go through
Preferences/Privacy/Passwords/ ... and try to get a result from pressing
"Edit Saved Passwords" ... that all I see is a very brief flash of a
small pane.
Whereas, I used to see the table of saved locations/passwords (if I
selected to show passwords). From there, I could remove one if I
wished. And certainly I could verify that Thunderbird did, in fact,
store a signon password for a particular mail-server.
Now I can not.

Much sounds like this bug

When you moved key3.db , have you copied "signons.txt" file in new
profile also ?

ummm ... *that* seemed to be the problem created by me.
I just renamed signons & key3 and started anew with passwords and
locations ... *now* I can see that "edit-saved-passwords" area.
thank you (again)
the original problem with TB and continually forgetting passwords
*seems* to be related to one of a very few add-ons. I am not sure, at
this moment, which one it is. I *did* cause the problem to start up in
this new profile and clean install when I downloaded and added
Signature-Switch
Restart TB
Get-All-Mail
will add one back in at a time.. currently all are un-installed and all
is working fine
