Thread: fake number of unread messages

  1. fake number of unread messages

In some newsgroups names (in Folders pane) there is a number for unread
messages, even if all the messages of the specific newsgroup are read. (If I
click the newsgroup name the number disappears and the messages are really
    read).

Why TB doesn't refresh this number as it does for the rest of the newsgroups
    I'm subscribed in?

    You may want this extension:

It will allow for some clean-up of your Tb user profile.

That's a known (and long outstanding) bug,
    https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=79130

A workaround to avoid that the "phantom" messages should reappear is at
    https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=294754#c3 (and can be used
even without any extensions, but requires a temporary closedown of
    Thunderbird).

    Best regards,
    Tony.
