Problem with offline browsing
I posted this on another group without any luck, so I'll try here....
Hello,
I often don't have an internet connection. When I go to a website (it
doesn't matter what website...it could be www.yahoo.com for example),
and then restart my computer later and don't have an internet
connection, I would like to be able to look at the pages I have
previously viewed (saved in the cache). I can do this with IE. But
when I try with FireFox, it gives me the following message:
Firefox is currently in offline mode and can't browse the Web.
Uncheck "Work Offline" in the File menu, then try again.
I just upgraded to version 2.0.0.1 from 1.X and had the same problems
in both versions. I am not deleting private data (including cache)
when closing the program. I have 50 MB set aside for cache space. I
have experimented and found that if I close my Firefox window(s) and
then restart the application offline, I am able to see the pages I
have viewed in the past. The problem occurs when I reboot my
computer: then I am not able to view past pages offline.
Why is this? Is there any way for me to view the cached pages while
offline?
thanks,
John

Could be that your cached pages are stored in system memory that is
"volatile" meaning that when you reboot your computer, system memory is
erased.
