  1. Thunderbird receiving issue

OK, let's see if I can explain this problem thoroughly.

Outlook sends/receives OK. Comcast web-based email sends/receives OK.
Thunderbird, my default and preferred email client, sends OK but is not
connecting to the Comcast mail server to receive email. It is constantly
attempting to connect and never does. I've tried reinstalling the software
to no avail. I did NOT uninstall T-bird first however.

Any suggested fixes? Please be specific.

    Thanks,
    Patrick

Reinstalling is not useful because the problem is in the user profile.
Profiles are not effected during un-install/install actions.

Use the Account Manager found in Tools Menu and review the settings for the
Comcast mail account. Make sure the user name shown in server settings is
    correct.

You might have set an incorrect password. To review open the
Options/Preferences dialog to Privacy Passwords and use the Edit Passwords
option. Select show passwords option. Now you can see what got set as the
accounts password. If incorrect, delete the entry. Close dialog and try
using the Get Mail button. You should get a prompt to set a password if
you deleted it in the prior step.
