navigation problems while reading mail
I recently moved from an XP box to a new laptop with Vista. The move
itself went smoothly enough and I was able to migrate my profiles (one
for me one for my wife) and everything came up fine. But now I've
noticed a change in behaviour while reading email.
While reading an email msg, the fwd/back arrows are grayed out and non-
functional. The only way I can go to the next/previous msg is to
close the current one and select from the inbox. Also, if I delete
the current message it doesn't close automatically, though if I close
it manually (after hitting the 'delete' icon) it is removed from my
inbox list.
Ideas?
Thanks.

The 'Forward' and 'Back' buttons navigate through the history of
messages you have read in the current session. Its like the 'Forward'
and 'Back' buttons on your web browser. Until you have browsed at least
two messages, they will do nothing.
To get the 'Next' and 'Previous' buttons, which will take you to the
next unread message, right click on the toolbar and select 'Customize...'.
The Customize Toolbar window will open.
Drag the 'Next' and 'Previous' buttons to the toolbar, then click the
'OK' button.
Now, when you open the first message, you can click on the 'Next' button
to go to the next unread message.
Clicking on the 'Back' button will take you back to the previous
message. Clicking on the 'Forward' button will take you back to the
second message, the one you were on when you clicked the 'Back' button.
The 'Previous' button takes you to the previous unread message. So, if
I start by opening a message in the middle of the list, then 'Previous'
will take me to the message above the one I'm currently reading.
If I start out at the top of the list, and read them in sequence, then
the 'Previous' button will have no effect, because there are no
'previous' unread messages.
