Hi, I'm switching from Netscape 4.7 on WinXPSP2. The TB fonts for
folder & emails lists is different than NS's and smaller, and makes my
eyes buzz. Is there a theme that will allow me to change these?
(I've already found how to change the fonts within the emails
themselves with options menus.)
I downloaded TB a while a ago and never switched over. Now NS is
crashing and swallowing emails and I'd like to get this done quickly,
but I can't use TB until I have this fix. I did an archive search and
someone else asked the same question in April 23, but no one replied.
FYI, I'm very new so I'm pretty lost. Am I posting in the right
place? Can I post without my email address being visible?
Thanks!!

A good starting point is to upgrade to the current version of TB, 1.0.6
is obsolete and NOT supported.
Current release 2.0.0.6 at:
http://www.mozilla.com/
Then select the product and language version you need.
Thanks Vic, particularly for making the link easy for when I do the
upgrade. I figured I'd need to upgrade, but for right now, I need to
know if there is an easy way to do this font change?
NS isnt' being stable, and I don't time to do any messing around at
the moment and risking who knows what, and with my internet connection
disconnecting every few minutes (it's a line problem that the company
needs to repair) I'm hoping, there's something I can do now. Any
ideas? I would think a theme for NS 4.7 was a pretty common request
over time, but I didn't see one. Even for 2.0 if I upgrade, how do I
change these features...is there a theme that duplicates the NS fonts
and sizes?
Thanks!

Adjusting the Font Family and Font Size can be done with CSS in the
userChrome.css. The most basic would be setting the Global font and
it's size. Most of the Themes focus on icon design and the color of the
window parts while relying on the defaults for much of the layout. Find
a theme you like and then ask for pointers on creating the
userChrome.css file and it's style over rides that You need for Fonts.

actually no... there seems to be no great thunder of requests for the
classic netscape look. Thunderbird does not have a "classic" theme that
i can find... or one that still works... You might prefer to take a
look at Seamonkey... the all-in-one combo that most closely resembles
netscape 4xx products... i use it on my older machines...
and it has a classic theme...

you can also set seamonkey up while netscape4xx is still installed to
see how you like it...
which you can also do with thunderbird...

Thanks for all the great ideas!!!! I'll download a few of these and
see if any of them work well enough for me. I found a page that must
be the entry level page for describing how to do the Chrome setup.
Thanks for putting in the other links - I'd never find this stuff by
myself.
I'm not sure what "you much use Fx 2.0+ to d/l save a copy for Tb 2+"
means. I'm reading it to mean that you must use Firefox 2.0 or higher
to download (rather than IE 6.0+ or more likely on Fx less than 2.0),
and that it will work only on Thunderbird 2.0 or higher.
Thanks!!
Cheri
I'm not seeing the classic theme for seamonkey. i went through the
list alphabetically for all themes and didn't see anything with word
classic in it or the description - what am I missing?
For the projectit, there's not link to download on the page (and
typing in just projectit redirects to this page.)
Sometimes I feel like I'm still in a store staring at the shelves, and
not seeing the obvious project in front of me...
Thanks again,
Cheri
Ah, just figured out the projectit one and the comment - I have to
have firefox open for the links to appear...

The site uses a Fx version sniffing javascript. If you brows with 1.5
it servers old version 1 theme, use Fx 2 and it serves theme version 2.
Because Tb 2+ needs theme version 2, then Fx used must be Fx 2+. Glad
you sorted it out. The site has some other themes to that link off the
SPC page. Toy
factory is another full skin theme. The other page has a table of what
theme supports what browser.

Hi,
I downloaded a couple themes and got them to work - was easy once I
was clued in. Very nice themes, but didn't fix my problem. So I'll
wait till I have access to hi-speed shortly (visiting someone),
download new versions and make the chrome changes to them!
Thanks again.
